Sarah Lofgren

Assistant Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases

Sarah Lofgren studies barriers to HIV care in Uganda. She is particularly interested in mood disorders and addiction among people living with HIV. Dr. Lofgren has a BA in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota, Morris. She completed her MD at Duke University and spent a year in Moshi, Tanzania, as part of her training. She then completed her internal medicine training at Emory University. Finally, she completed her Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. As part of her fellowship, she was a Fogarty International Center fellow in Kampala, Uganda. She looked at barriers to HIV care, focusing on psychosocial and mental health barriers. She was awarded a K23 and R21 to study depression in people living with HIV. She does clinical work in Minneapolis, MN.
